The Gateron Red switches can be clicked quickly, which supports faster action gameplay and even faster typing. The Gateron Browns have sheer tactility, and a bumpy experience on the Gateron Brown switches. The Gateron browns are in between the clicky blues and the red linear switches. They are not noisy like the blues.
Same with the blue switch and green. The stem changes how the switch interacts with the housing where the actual electrical circuit happens (putting it plainly). The linear stem has no bumps on the legs of it so when you push it down, it brushes a certain area flatly.
Sound: Moderate. Outemu SKY is a tactile switch with a PA6/6 Nylon housing and a semi-clear MX-styled switch stem. It consists of two weight variants, the 62g and the 68g SKY switch. Outemu SKY is also a commissioned switch by /u/hbheroinbob, the person who also commissioned Outemu for the ICE lineup. The last Razer traditional mechanical switch is the Razer Yellow switch, which is a silent linear switch akin to the Cherry MX Silent Red or otherwise known as Pink switches. The main difference here is that the Razer switches are faster with a travel distance of 3.5mm and an actuation point of 1.2mm. I still find these to be too light for my taste, especially when gaming. Pressing keys you didn’t mean to has got to be one of the most annoying things about a lightly weighted switch. This is no exception. Sound: 6/10 . The switch soundtrack is deeper and thockier compared to other red switches, especially the spacebar given the price. Red switches are better for gaming since they’re linear and low weight. Brown switches are best for typing since they provide tactile feedback. Red switches are pretty popular due to less actuation force and low price. If you have a tight budget then consider going for Red switches which are less expensive. May be too noisy for some people. The best switch ultimately comes down to personal preference. If you like the classic, clicky sound and feel, you'll love blue mechanical switches. If speed is a consideration, stick to linear (red) switches, and for a mix of both, go with brown. To me the bananas felt heavier than the browns. The difference is slight but noticeable. I think it has do do with the little bit of squish before the bump on the brown, and the banana having the bump right up front. With the brown, you have a little bit of momentum before hitting the bump so it feels like there's less force needed. .
